Home learning: Free choice

Every Thursday I have a keyboard lesson. I go  to the Christchurch Music Academy which is at Barrington mall. My teacher's name is Miss Nicola.

I have been learning  the keyboard for about 2 years. When I first started I was in a group with other kids. Now I have one on one lessons.

My favourite part about lessons is to learn new songs. I have my own keyboard at home. I practise every day for 10-15 minutes. My teacher writes in my homework in my notebook the things that I need to work on at home.

This year I am a year 4 and we do maths bricks and I was at brick 11 which was recall subtraction facts to 10 and you must say the answer in 3 seconds. Now I have gone right up to brick 15. The bricks that I have done are 11, 12a, 12b, 13a, 13c, 14 15. I like bricks they are fun and a good way to learn maths.

Dear Diary,

I live in the workshop in England in 1801 and I am very poor.  You should know me as Max and the best news was told to me last night.

Dad has got us passage to the new country New Zealand. I am happy that we are moving because my job today was to get some rope from a bucket. I had to peel it and make it so thin that it go into string. It is used for boats to patch up the holes so it does not sink. The bad thing was that your fingers bleed and it stings.  My fingers are really sore tonight.

I am a bit worried though because we are going to go on a boat  - for 90 whole days. What if I fall over -  I can not swim!

My name is Max and I am 18 years old. This is the first time I have ever written in a diary and now have I got a crazy story to tell you!

Last night the worst thing happened to me. I went on a school trip and they left me there and my class was the last group to go there for the day.

So I went to sleep and then I woke up and the dinosaurs were alive. Even weirder, all of the bones in the museum had got together by themselves and they started to attack me. I was so scared. Lucky there were still lights on but then the power went out. I did not know what to do.

Strangely, I had five tins of cat food in my pocket.This was because mum had asked me to pick them up from the supermarket. Our cat was secretly ‘The Greedy Cat’.

I feed the bones the cat food and they started to fall asleep so that meant that I could live and I was so happy!

I had to wait until the morning before anyone rescued me. That was the worst night of my entire life. In the morning I told the people who worked at the museum what had happened. I do not recommend to go to the museum with your class.

Next time I will tell you about when my class went to the Zoo. I hope it does not go wrong again for me.

About my cats

We have had our cats, Bella and Mittens for about a year and a half.

We feed the cat’s every day. At breakfast time and tea time they get wet meat. They  always have cat biscuits to nibble on and freshwater. When they are good they get some treats.

I help mum to keep their food area clean and tidy.

Mum gets their wet meat from the supermarket and the cat biscuits from the vet in Lincoln. They are special biscuits to help keep their teeth clean.

Bella and Mittens both have collars with a name tag on them and our phone number in case they get lost.

Dear diary

Monday

Morning everyone. It is me here - I am William the worm. You wouldn’t expect to hear from under your feet but yes - I am here talking to you.

I am 10 years old but for a worm like me it is quite old compared with a human. If you did not know I live in the ground and I move around a lot. I like to live in the dirt and wriggle around. It tickles on my pink skin and it is itchy on my head.

Well, let’s get to it. Yesterday something terrible happened…

I was really unlucky to be found by a seagull that almost ate me.

Please came a visit me at the shopper market tomorrow.
